FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was this morning involved in an unfortunate car accident in Moscow, Russia.

Several reports may be found on the internet regarding this accident in Russian, amongst them some TV reports : http://news.ntv.ru/144258/

People close to the President have advised that Mr Ilyumzhinov was hospitalized as routine procedure to ensure that everything was fine and he is reported to be in stable condition.

On behalf of all FIDE members and chess players round the world we wish him a speedy recovery.
