FIDE President's visits to Costa Rica and Cuba Print

On the November 6th the FIDE President arrived in Costa Rica. He attended the awarding ceremony of the national championship with the Continental President for Americas Mr. Jorge Vega, President of the National Olympic Committee of Costa Rica Mr. Henry Nunes and the President of Costa Rica Chess Federation Mr. Mauricio Castro Solano. Ilyumzhinov gave a live interview to Diario Extra channel, then he had a meeting with the Director of the Instituto Costarricense Del Deporte y La Recreacion (ICODER) Mr. Luis Edoardo Peraza Murillo and visited the Costa Rica's National Stadium in the premises of which the Chess Federation of Costa Rica is located.

On the November 7th Kirsan Ilyumzhinov had a short-term visit to Cuba where he met with Mr. Silvino Garcia Martinez, President of Cuba Chess Federation. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov told about the results of the last 82nd FIDE Congress in Krakow and about his trip to Central and Latin America. Mr Martinez gave a detailed account of the current situation about the chess development in Cuba and the future plans.
