The FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov is taking part in the work of SportAccord Convention – an important sports and political event - which is being held this year in Saint Petersburg.

The International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) General Assembly took place at the SportAccord Convention 2013 yesterday. According to the results of the GA Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was elected as IMSA President. From the moment of its foundation IMSA was headed by the Honourary President of the World Bridge Federation Mr. Jose Damiani. This year he celebrates his 74th birthday that is why he decided not to run as a candidate for the third term of presidency in IMSA.

International Mind Sports Association was founded in 2005. 4 international organizations developing mind sports were IMSA founders: World Chess Federation, World Bridge Federation, World Draughts Federation and International Go Federation. World Xiangqi Federation is the associate member of IMSA without the right to vote. The FIDE President became a new IMSA President for the nearest 4 years. He thanked all IMSA members for their trust and shared his thoughts on the further development of IMSA.
