VISIT OF K. ILYUMZHINOV STARTS

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ A three-day visit of the President of the Republic of Kalmykia, Russia, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov started Monday with paying a respect to the Monument to Chinggis Khaan. The Kylmyk delegation arrived Monday early morning.

Afterwards, representatives of the Government of Mongolia, headed by the first Vice Premier N. Altankhuyag, and the representatives of the Kalmyk Government signed cooperation memorandums in the fields of foreign policy, culture, tourism, food, and agriculture.

Upon the signing ceremony, the sides made a briefing for the media.

Mr Altankhuyag said the agreements on cooperation in the areas of agriculture, education and history and on investment in the business sector have elevated relationship between Mongolia and Kalmykia onto the new level.

In his turn, Mr Ilyumzhinov as the FIDE president expressed his confidence that Mongolia will have a world chess champion soon. The same day, the Kalmyk leader held a meeting with the President of Mongolia N. Enkhbayar.

In the afternoon, his visit continued by attending an opening ceremony of a photo exhibition "Kalmykia-Land and people" in the Art Gallery.
