Ulaanbaatar, 30th June to 5th July 2009

The Mongolian Chess Federation is one of the older members of FIDE and two its IMs had distinguished themselves at the Interzonal Tournaments in 1967 and 1970 whereby both held Bobby Fischer to draws. Upon the visit of GlobalChess CEO Geoffrey Borg to finalise the contract to host one tournament in the Women's Grand Prix in May 2010, the Mongolian Chess Federation requested an arbiters' seminar.

With permission from Arbiters Commission Chairman Panagiotis Nikolopoulos and because of the tight schedule, FIDE General Secretary and IA Ignatius Leong accepted the task.

The seminar was held in the premises of the Mongolian National Olympic Council and was attended mainly by players and arbiters who were relatively young. While English is not a main language in Mongolia, fortunately the participants were able to understand and this helped that the seminar finished according to schedule.

The examination was completed 30 minutes ahead of schedule and the results are appended.
