Lao Chess Federation (LCF) with the help of ASEAN Chess Academy and support of FIDE, with coordination of the National Sport Committee of Laos and Education department of Vientiane capital, had arranged the school chess training.

The training course is being held at Chao Anouvong Secondary School from July 7-14, and covers chess basics, rules and tactics.
30 school teachers from 15 primary and secondary schools participate in the training learning the basics of chess.
Mr. Osric Mooi, the International Arbiter from ASEAN Chess Academy, is giving the classes on chess. Besides the school teachers who had been assigned and sent to training, there are also the students who came to learn with them.

The Lao government had given to LCF a legal support to start "Chess in School Project" and wished to spread it out to other provinces of the country. After this school chess training LCF is planning to organize the competition to select the best player for participation in the soonest tournament in China.

Chess movement in Laos has started working seriously and moving forward. Lao Chess Federation thanks FIDE President Kirsan Ilymzhinov and FIDE General Secretary Ignatious Leong for support and IA Osric Mooi for the training.
