Yesterday, August 2, after a hard illness at the age of 75, died a talented chess organizer and FIDE Master Boris Khropov - President (1993-1998), Vice-President (1998-2004) of St. Petersburg Chess Federation, Vice-President of the Russian Chess Federation. Boris Khropov made significant contributions to the chess development. Already fatally illed he organized two major chess events in Elista - Spassky-Korchnoi match and Veterans' tournament dedicated to the Victory Day. He was among the winners of Veterans' tournament.
FIDE expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Khropov.
