The pilot project for the Chess In Schools project took off in Thailand on 2nd August with the participation of 40 teachers registered from various provinces in Thailand.
 
6 organizations collaborated to make this event come true – FIDE, Asian Chess Federation, the Office for Basic Education Department of the Ministry of Education, the Shinawatra International University and the Thailand Chess Association. The Asean Chess Academy provided the training syllabus and the 2 lecturers. Mr Chinnapat Bhumirat, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education officiated at the opening of the seminar.
