Jayalalithaa Jayaram, the Chief Minister of the state of Tamil Nadu, India, had announced in the Tamil Nadu Assembly that chess will be introduced in schools of the Indian State Tamil Nadu. It will be implemented to the school curriculum in the age group of 7 to 17.

Here is the extract from press release: "To improve the basic skill and general ability Jayalalithaa Jayaram has planned to introduce "Chess in Schools" programme, through this,children's thinking capacity will increase apart form improving the over all intelligence. Further it shall improve sharp thinking ability, concentration and intelligence."
