At 13 November 2012 a meeting for the preparation of the World Chess Championship for the Disabled took place in Dresden/Germany. Mr. Lakhdar Mazouz, Member of the FIDE Presidential Board and Continental President for Africa and Mr. Thomas Luther, Chairman of the FIDE Committee for the Disabled, met with the organising committee.

Tournament Director Mrs. Yvonne Ledfuss, Chief Organiser and FIDE Technical Commission Member Dr. Dirk Jordan and Chief Arbiter Mr. Egmont Poenisch presented the planning and organising of the event.

The 1st World Chess Championship for the Disabled will take place from 21 to 29 October 2013 in Dresden/Germany. The official invitation will be published soon.

At 14 November the participants of the meeting were visiting the office of the mayor of Dresden. The mayor, Mrs. Helma Orosz, expressed the support of the municipality of Dresden for the World Chess Championship for the Disabled.
