Mohamed Ridha BELKHADI

International Arbiter and International Master Mohamed Ridha BELKHADI died in Tunis on December 15, 2012. Born April 3, 1925 in Tunis, Mohamed Ridha was more than a ten-time Tunisian chess champion, the founder and the President of Tunisian Chess Federation (1958/1989), the 1st International Master in the Arab world and the African continent, the 1st President of Arab chess Union (1971/1978), the 1st President of Chess African continent (1978).

International Arbiter (1982), he organized two big events: The Interzonal of Soussa (1967) where the young Bobby Fisher participated and the Interzonal of Tunis (1985). Honorary member of FIDE since 1990, the father of Tunisian Chess gave a lot of his life to the Chess in Tunisia, in the Maghreb, in the Arabic world and in the African continent.
