The results of FIDE Trainers’ Seminar for FIDE Trainers’ Titles that was held in Oslo, Norway, 21-23 February 2014.
The Chess Olympiad is on its way in the Norwegian town of Tromso. Next August will be hot for the Norwegian chess, as an important event as the chess Olympiad will be hosted by the Norwegian Chess Federation. A pre-Olympiad event, a FIDE Trainers’ Seminar was organised in Oslo, on February 21-23, 2014. The seminar was co-organised by the FIDE, the European Chess Union (ECU), the FIDE Trainers’ Commission (TRG) and the Norwegian Chess Federation (Norges Sjakkforbund). In the seminar twenty-nine trainers from Norway (26), Faroe Islands (1), Iraq (1) and Italy (1) participated. The Lecturer was GM/FST/IA/IO Efstratios Grivas (Greece), who is also the Secretary of the FIDE Trainers’ Commission. Here are the RESULTS (pdf).

Also I was quite impressed that in the exams’ question on the name of the current World Champion, the participants had a 100% correct answer by noting ‘Magnus Carlsen’! Well, was Norway, wasn’t it? The Olympiad is not far away and the Norwegian Chess Federation and FIDE will continue to cooperate for improving the trainers’ status in Norway...
