fide trainers seminar

Continuing the ‘coaching adventure’ in Australia and with the sponsorship of the ‘Asian Chess Federation’, a second TRG seminar was organized in Sydney, just after the Melbourne one.

The seminar was co-organised by the FIDE, the Asian Chess Federation (ACF), the FIDE Trainers’ Commission (TRG), the Australian Chess Federation (ACF) and the Sydney Academy of Chess (, which generously hosted the event.

The seminar was held on April 14th and 16th, 2014 and twenty-five trainers participated (21 from Australia, 1 from Denmark, 1 from Turkey, 1 from Netherlands and 1 from India). The Lecturers were GM/FST/IA/IO Efstratios Grivas (Greece), who is also the Secretary of the FIDE Trainers’ Commission and FM/FT Brett Tindall (Australia-Assistant). Here is the relative ‘proof’:

On April 15th a school chess championship was organized by the ‘Sydney Academy of Chess’. The event, which was named ‘Inner West Chess Challenge 14’, took place in the ‘Sydney Latvian Club’ and 256 kids participated ( chess-challenge-14).

And of course, here are the RESULTS of participants (pdf)

Another interesting photo from the event:

And as it is customary, here is the ‘family’ photo:

Well, everything run smoothly and more or less everyone was happy to learn something more in training and obtaining certification on his/her level. Proper chess-training is a bit more difficult than it sounds and trainers have to improve their level…

And an interesting touch: after the discussions on women chess during the seminar, a very ‘relative’ article was appointed to me. I call you to enjoy it:

Ending this report, I would like to thank the Australian CF and its President Gary Wastell, the Secretary Kerry Stead, my Assistant Brett Tindall who took care of every big and small detail to please the participants and the ‘Sydney Academy of Chess’ for the excellent organization and the facilities provided.
