The FIDE Executive Board in Antalya approved the nomination by FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov to appoint David Kaplan as Chief Executive Officer - Development within FIDE. Kaplan, 44, a successful multinational industrialist has offered his personal resources and facilities with the objective of developing chess and assisting FIDE in making the organization more professional. Read the appointment letter. The FIDE Executive Board also appointed former FIDE Vice President Geoffrey Borg as FIDE Commercial Director. The FIDE Executive Board in Antalya approved the nomination by FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov to appoint David Kaplan as Chief Executive Officer - Development within FIDE. Kaplan, 44, a successful multinational industrialist has offered his personal resources and facilities with the objective of developing chess and assisting FIDE in making the organization more professional.

The FIDE Executive Board also appointed former FIDE Vice President Geoffrey Borg as FIDE Commercial Director. After the approval by the FIDE Executive Board of the contract between FIDE and Global Chess, Borg submitted his courtesy resignation as FIDE Vice President in order to insure transparency and professionalism in the relationship between FIDE and Global Chess.

FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov profusely thanked Mr. Borg for his contribution to the work of FIDE. The Executive Board approved the President`s nomination of Mr. Geoffrey Borg as FIDE Commercial Director.
