FIDE President, Head of the Republic of Kalmykia Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visited Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, where he took part in the Opening Ceremony of the traditional tournament - International Chess Match Russia vs. China. The Russia vs. China match gathered as usual the top chess players of two great chess countries. International Grandmaster, the leading chess player from Kalmykia Ernesto Inarkiev represents the Russian team in this match. Also, FIDE President visited the Nizhny Novogorod Lyceum where he gave simulteneous game on 15 chess boards. and see photos from the Opening and simulteneous.

FIDE President, Head of the Republic of Kalmykia Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visited Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, where he took part in the Opening Ceremony of the traditional tournament - International Chess Match Russia vs. China.



The Russia vs. China match gathered as usual the top chess players of two great chess countries. International Grandmaster, the leading chess player from Kalmykia Ernesto Inarkiev represents the Russian team in this match. The Chinese team is represented by the top players from this strong federation.

In the frame of the working visit, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the Vice Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Mr. Gennady Suvorov. The deputy of the Russian State Duma, the President of the Nichny Novgorod Chess Federation Mr. Alexander Khinshtein took part in the meetings as well. During the meetings, the further possible collaboration between Nizhny Novgorod Region and Republic of Kalmykia, the "Chess in School" programme to be implemented in the schools of Nizhny Novgorod Region were discussed.

Also, FIDE President visited the Nizhny Novogorod Lyceum No 36. The Lyceum chess team became a prize-winner of the traditional Russian Children tournament "White Rook". During his conversation with the teachers and schoolchildren of the Lyceum, Mr. Ilyumzhinov gave a small introduction about the Republic of Kalmykia, FIDE programme "Chess in School" and gave a simultaneous game on 15 chess boards.
