Top seed Levon Aronian of Armnia beat Alexei Shirov of Spain who gave an exchange sacrifice, Alexander Grischuk of Russia won a brilliant game over Sergei Rublevsky and Peter Leko of Hungary got the full point after a desperation sacrifice by Evgeny Bareev of Russia in the first game of round two of the Candidates Matches.
