News from the Turkish Chess Federation

The Turkish Youth Championshis is one of the most important chess events oganized in Turkey with an increasing number of participants every year.

The Turkish Youth Championship is being held with 1,300 players which is the highest participation in recent years. The meeting of the Turkish chess family has grown into a festival with parents, trainers and players exceeding 2,000 people.

A staff of 90 people has been working in this huge organization in order to make sure that no problem occurs and all members of the organization are proud to take part in such a successful event.

First of all, we decided to organize the Turkish Youth Championship in the Limra Hotel because we see this event as a preparation for the World Youth Championship to be held in November 2007.

Before the organization, our expert staff had various meetings with the hotel management in order to explain the requirements of such events and how a top chess championship should be organized.

The hotel checked against established criteria and as a result no shortcomings were found.

At the head office of the Turkish Chess Federation in Ankara, every stage of the organization was planned and simulated. Precautions were taken for some major fields which could give problems like Internet infrastructure, bulletin, health and security. Units for psychological support and counselling were prepared for the parents and children.

We have an agreement with a private health institution for 24 hour service and all the participants may benefit from this service free of charge.

A special network was constructed for live broadcasting of 40 boards.

From six different locations in the hotel, 28 games can be followed in a `stadium-like` atmosphere on comfortable sofas.

There are also some educational events for making the organization more meaningful. Trainer and arbiter development seminars are being organized. For trainer`s educational seminars, GM Adrian Michalchishin with his great understanding and personality, is going to make this seminar a real experience for every participant.

Our main sponsor Turkiye Is Bankasi, has also arranged various activities for parents and children.
