During his visit to Doha, Qatar His Excellency Kirsan Ilyumzhinov had meetings with the Executive Director for Olympic Games of the IOC Gilbert Felli, the GAISF Chairman and Chairman of the Coordinating Commission for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad Hein Verbruggen, President of International Association of Athletics Federations Lamine Diack and Minister of Sports of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan NOC President Temirkhan Dosmagambetov.

Also Mr.Ilyumzhinov met with Mr. Al-Abadi, Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iranian NOC President and Dr. Mohammad Ebrahim Maddahi, President of the Iran Chess Federation. He discussed economic and cultural cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and in particular,a FIDE Chess in Schools programme
