24-25 November 2006 the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met Mr. Peer Steinbruck, Federal Finance Minister of Germany and Dr. Werner Muller, Chairman of the Board of Management of RAG Aktiengesellschaft and discussed with them chess development, plans to change the World Championship Cycle and Chess in Schools programme. The German party expressed an interest to hold the next World Chess Championship in Bonn.
Mr. Ilyumzhinov also took part in the opening and the first move ceremonies of the Vladimir Kramnik vs Deep Fritz match. Please see photos.

23 November 2006 during his visit to the Czech Republic His Excellency Kirsan Ilyumzhinov had a meeting with Mr. Petr Herejk, President of the Czech Chess Federation and discussed the possible organisation of the Women`s World Chess Championship 2008 in Prague. According to Mr. Herejk the Czech corporation Falcon Group and Hotel Complex Prague expressed their interest to sponsor this event.
