FIDE inspection trip to Khanty-Mansyisk Print

Mr. Israel Gelfer, FIDE Honorary Vice-President and Mr. Berik Balgabaev, Assistant to the FIDE President made an inspection trip to Khanty-Mansyisk Autonomous Region Yugra. They had a meeting with the representatives of the region and discussed the preparation and organization of the World Chess Cups 2007 and 2009 and the 39th Chess Olympiad and the FIDE Congress 2010... .

Mr. Israel Gelfer, FIDE Honorary Vice-President and Mr. Berik Balgabaev, Assistant to the FIDE President made an inspection trip to Khanty-Mansyisk Autonomous Region Yugra. They had a meeting with the representatives of the region and discussed the preparation and organization of the World Chess Cups 2007 and 2009 and the 39th Chess Olympiad and the FIDE Congress 2010 and visited the proposed venues – the tennis center and Expocentre that are under construction now. The tennis center will consist of two halls, where the area of one hall with the spectators’ seats will be 6000 m2 and of the other one – 8000-9000 m2. The first part of the Expocentre is 4500 m2. The second part of the same size will be ready in 2008.

The following decisions were taken:

The Yugra Intersport company will be appointed as the Executive Directorate of the 2007 World Chess Cup.

The Organising Committee will prepare and provide the approval of all necessary legal and other basic documentation, in connection to the above-mentioned events, by the end of this year, following which, the Agreements for the organization of the 2007 World Chess Cup and the 39th Chess Olympiad and the Congress 2010 will be signed by 31st December 2006.

By 31st December 2006 the Organising Committee shall provide FIDE with the information in respect of the available hotel accommodation and plans to construct necessary number of hotel rooms in accordance with the earlier reached Agreements.

The proposed dates for the 2007 World Chess Cup are 23 November to 11 December (coordinated with the Executive Director of the Russian Chess Federation A. Bakh), and the dates of the 39th Chess Olympiad are 19 September – 2 October 2010.

The exchange of information between FIDE and the Organising Committee in respect of the preparation and organization of the events shall be held bimonthly.
