FIDE President Meets With President Lahoud of Lebanon Print

FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the President of the Republic of Lebanon, His Excellency Emile Jamil Lahoud. They discussed areas of cooperation, the Chess in Schools project in Lebanon and possible organization of FIDE tournaments in Lebanon. Kirsan presented 1,000 chess sets and 1,000 copies of chess training software to the President of the Lebanese Chess Federation, Dr. Ammar El Houry. Read more. As a result of the meeting with the President of Lebanon the Lebanese leadership is considering the possibility of organizing the next World Championship. The respective bid will be sent to FIDE shortly.

The FIDE President had a meeting with the President of the Lebanese Chess Federation, Dr. Ammar El Houry.

Kirsan also met with the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Mr. Nabih Berri.

In his dual funcations at the reception with the political and business elite of Lebanon, Kirsan made presentations for FIDE and of investment policy of the Republic of Kalmykia.
