Today, on 16 August 2006 in the framework of the World Chess Championship Match Topalov - Kramnik 2006 that will take place from 21 Sept. - 15 Oct. 2006 in Elista, the manager to Vladimir Kramnik, Mr. Carsten Hensel, accompanied by the Executive Disrector of the Russian Chess Federation Mr. Alexander Bach, arrived on an official visit to Elista, Russia to inspect the venue and accommodation conditions for the coming Match. Today, on 16 August 2006 in the framework of the World Chess Championship Match Topalov - Kramnik 2006 that will take place from 21 Sept. - 15 Oct. 2006 in Elista, the manager to Vladimir Kramnik, Mr. Carsten Hensel, accompanied by the Executive Disrector of the Russian Chess Federation Mr. Alexander Bach, arrived on an official visit to Elista, Russia to inspect the venue and accommodation conditions for the coming Match.

The same day the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the Carsten Hensel and briefed him on the preparation for the Match. The meeting was held in a very friendly atmosphere. Mr. Hensel was very surprised and pleased with the first impressions on the warm hospitality and preparations for the Match, as he said from his first view.

17th of August will be full working day, as Mr. Hensel said. They have one day to see the venue of the games, to get acquainted with all questions that Kramnik’s manager can be interested in. The press conference on the results of his visit will be held in the evening for the mass media.

This is the first visit of the representatives of Vladimir Kramnik in Elista. On 24 August the manager of Veselin Topalov will visit Elista with the same purpose to inspect the conditions and preparations for the Match. We shall keep you informed on this visit as well.
