His Excellency Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, President of the Republic of Kalmykia and FIDE President, met with H.E. Eduard Rossel, Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region (see photo) on 15 July 2005 at its capital city, Ekaterinburg. During this meeting it was established that the Women`s World Championship shall be held in Ekaterinburg with a prize fund of 450 thousand USD. Venue shall be the Atrium Palace Hotel and tentative dates are from 10 to 27 March 2006.

Governor Rossel and President Ilyumzhinov met with players of the third International Women`s Super Tournament North Urals Cup and gave prizes and souvenirs to the winners and all participants.

The FIDE President then gave a press conference in the local department of the INTERFAX Agency.
