Former FIDE Vice President Egon Ditt, Honorary President of the German Chess Federation, passed away 4th July 2005 of a lingering illness. He was 74. FIDE extends its deepest condolences to his wife and family and to the Deutscher Schachbund. His friends in FIDE will miss him. As a leading official he influenced the course of FIDE, having served as FIDE Vice President from 1990 to 1994 and in the FIDE Executive Council from 1994 to 1998.
