FIDE is happy to announce its new project Mobile Chess that was presented today, 11 May 2004, at the exhibition “Communication – Expocomm 2004” in Moscow.
Mobile chess is a new brand of chess in which players exchange moves by sending messages (sms) to each other. It holds the intermediate place between correspondence chess (where players exchange moves being at any distance from each other) and ordinary chess. In mobile the exchange of sms is very quick where almost all traditional time control types can be applied.
