 FIDE Honorary Member Ineke Bakker, Former Secretary General of FIDE, passed away last Sunday July 6. We join the Royal Dutch Chess Federation and the Max Euwe Centre in mourning her demise. The cremation ceremony will take place Friday July 11.

We are deeply grieved to learn about the sad demise of the former FIDE Secretary General and Honorary Member of FIDE, Mrs. Ineke Bakker.
Mrs.Bakker was a great organizer of Chess and a pillar of strength of the world body. She was a very lovable character who combined in her noble qualities of her true friend and fighter. Her untimely departure from among us is a great loss to the entire Chess world.
The All India Chess Federation and the Chess fraternity of India deeply mourn her death and condole with the bereaved family.
May the departed soul rest in peace.
