GM Wang Hao of China and WIM Vo Thi Kim Phung of Vietnam won the Asian Continental Championship Print

GM Wang Hao of China and WIM Vo Thi Kim Phung of Vietnam won the Asian Continental Championship for Men and Women, respectively, organized by the Chinese Chess Association under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation 11-22 May 2017 in Chengdu, China.

Wang finished with 7 points in the 9-round Swiss in a tie with compatriot Bu Xianzhi, followed by GM Vidit Santosh Gujrathi of India and GM Yu Yangyi of China with 6.5 points and GM Batchuluun Tsegmed of Mongolia with 6 points. Tied with 6 points each are GMs Julio Catalino Sadorra of the Philippines, Wei Yi of China, and B. Adhban and Surya Shekhar Ganguly of India.

In the women’s division, WIM Vo Thi Kim Phung of Vietnam finished alone with 7.5 points followed by WGM Nakhbayeva Guliskhan of Kazakhstan with 7 points and WIM R. Vaishali of India with 6.5 points.

The Asian Blitz Championship was held at the closing day and Wei Yi of China won with 7.5 points, prevailing in a tied with Rusam Kasimjanov Rustam of Uzbekistan while GM Bai Jinshi of China finished third with 7 points.

In the Women’s Blirtz, WIM R. Vaishali of India won with 8 points followed by IM Sarasadat Khademalsharieh of Iran with 7.5 and IM Padmini Rout of India with 7 points.
