Indian boys and girls topped the medal tally in standard and rapid chess to emerge overall winner of the Asian Youth Chess Championship held 1-10 April 2018 in Chiang Mai, Thailand organized by the Thailand Chess Association under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation.

The Indian delegation had earlier dominated the blitz championship on the first day.

The Vietnamese finished in second followed by the Chinese. The tournament attracted a very large field of 573 players plus accompanying parents and coaches which overwhelmed the hotel. Congratulations to Thailand Chess Federation Secretary General Sahapol Nakvanich for rising to the challenge.
