The V International Chess Tournament "World`s Youth Stars" dedicated to Vanya Somov`s memory will be held from May 14 to May 28 2007 in LLC "KINEF", St. Petesburg, Russia. The tournament aims are chess popularization, development of chess among young players in Russia and expansion of the contacts between young chess players from different countries. on the tournament.

The V International Chess Tournament "World`s Youth Stars" dedicated to Vanya Somov`s memory will be held from May 14 to May 28 2007 in LLC "KINEF", St. Petesburg, Russia. The tournament aims are chess popularization, development of chess among young players in Russia and expansion of the contacts between young chess players from different countries.

12 strongest young chess players from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Germany, India, Ukraine and Russia will compete in the traditional tournament. Among them there are World and Continental Champions in the different age groups. The participants of this round robin tournament can achieve a GM norm.

The Press Conference will take place on 7 May at 03.00 p.m in the "KINEF" office, address: Moika River embankment, 57. The Opening Ceremony will be held at 03.30 p.m. on 15 May in the Palace of Culture, Kirishi.

The former winners of the International annual tournament are Ian Nepomniachtchi, Russia (2003), Ildar Khairullin, Russia (2004), Sergey Karyakin, Ukraine (2005), Ivan Popov, Russia (2006).

The winners of this year tournament will be awarded with prizes and diplomas, there is a special prize for creative achievements.

Tournament Director: Gennady Nesis, International Grandmaster, FIDE Senior Trainer, International FIDE Arbiter, honored coach of the Russian Chess Federation.
