The youngster`s results in the past year have put chess in The Faroe Islands on the front pages in the media sport coverage. And Helgi is now topping the national rating list.

From an international context, Faroe Islands represent a very small country (approx. 50.000 inhabitans) with 326 players on their rating list. The Faroe Islands got their first (born in Faroe Island) IM in January 2006 - John Arni Nilssen. They have in recent years focused on youth-chess, where a Chess in School Project is running on its 3rd year.
