The celebration of Tigran Petrossian Year which was officially announced by FIDE is continuing. European Rapid Chess Championship 2004 (11 rounds) was held 28-29 November in Yerevan, Armenia.
Ivanchuk Vassily was crowned as a European Rapid Chess Champion 2004. Silver medal went to Izoria Zviad of Georgia. Bronze medalist is a young Armenian chess player Beniamin Galstian. Visit Official Site for more information.

96 chess players from different countries are competing for the Euro Rapid Champion 2004 title.

The Tigran Petrossian Year celebration will continue in the Internet tournament which will take place in Yerevan, Armenia, in the middle of December 2004. Many strong Armenian, Russian, French and Chinese chess players will compete in this tournament. The event will be organized by the initiative of the Armenian Chess Federation and Armenian "Chess Academy". We will keep you informed on the start and results of the chess tournament further on.
