The US$30,000 Zhejiang Lishui Xingqiu Cup International Open held in the city of Lishui attracted a total of 56 players from 5 countries. Top seed GM Le Quang Liem of Vietnam led the tournament from start till finish to win the tournament and the top prize of US$7,500. Taking the women's top prize of US$4,500 was Asian Champion WGM Zhang Xiaowen from China.
The local sponsor, Star Chess & Cards Co Ltd, has the largest factory in Lishui, China, producing chess sets mainly for export. The sponsor has agreed to continue its sponsorship for at least another 5 years with progressive increments in prize money and financial conditions.
