The 79th Tata Steel Chess Tournament, one of the most prestigious events in the international chess calendar and often referred as the “Wimbledon of Chess”, takes place from 13-29th January in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands.

The event has two main player groups - the Tata Steel Masters and the Tata Steel Challengers, each with 14 players. In addition, more than 2000 amateur players will compete in the various side-events.
