Abu Dhabi, Oct.19,2006 (WAM) -- General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces has welcomed the move of the venue of the Asian Chess Federation from Doha, Qatar, to Al Ain city to become the first regional association with the United Arab Emirates as its seat.

Sheikh Mohammed made his remarks as he received Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President of the Federation as part of his support for national sports groups to raise the UAE flag high in the international sports map.

Sheikh Mohammed hopes the UAE presidency of the Federation would provide the incentive for other sports unions to follow suit. Sheikh Sultan thanked Sheikh Mohammed for his financial and moral support.

Secretary General of the Federation Hisham Al Tahir will leave for Doha to process the necessary arrangement for the shift of the body to Al Ain.
