International Trainers’ Course  for FIDE-Instructor / FIDE-Trainer


held in conjuction with the World Youth Championship 2008 in Vung Tau, Vietnam

 

1. Objectives: To enable participants to teach young and gifted players in schools and chess-clubs and to educate Trainers and Chess-Teachers not only in their own countries but also on an international basis. This International Course for FIDE-Instructor / FIDE-Trainer Diploma is approved by FIDE.

2. Dates/Location: 20th to 30th October 2008, Vung Tau, Vietnam.

 3. Participants / Qualification:

 3.1 FIDE Instructor

a. Proof of National Trainer education and recommendation for participation by the National Federation

b. Proof of at least 2 years activity as a Trainer.

c. A minimum rating of 1800.

 

3.2 FIDE Trainer

a. Proof of National Trainer education and recommendation for participation by the National Federation.

b. Proof of at least 5 years activity as a Trainer.

c. A minimum rating of 2300 over a period of time.

5. Lectures / Exercises: The FIDE Instructor and the FIDE Trainer course will
take-up 35 hours. The courses will be conducted in the English language and a lesson hour equals to 45 minutes.

 

 

 

6. Lecturers: The program would be fullfield by FST & GM Efstratios Grivas
(20 hours), FST & IM
Jovan Petronic (13 hours), and by FST Ignatius Leong (2 hours). The lectures were prepared by FST Efstratios Grivas except the ‘Modern Methods of Training’ (MMT) part which was prepared by FST Jovan Petronic and FST Ignatius Leong’s subjects which were prepared by him.

Examinations (16:00-18:45) - Each Participant will present a 7 minutes (~) subject in lecture form.

8. Trainer Certificate / Diploma: After successful graduation from the educational course, each participant will receive a certificate as FIDE Instructor or FIDE Trainer, and after that, the official diploma from FIDE, if the following conditions and special FIDE fee are fulfilled:

 

8.1 FIDE Instructor

a. Proof of at least 2 years activity as a trainer.

b. A minimum rating of 1800.

c. Proof of teaching ability given by a demonstration lesson (spoken in English or other FIDE language).

d. Proof of successful participation of the trainer course.

 

8.2 FIDE Trainer

a. Delivery of a trainer paper in English or other FIDE language (approx. 12 pages long) or proof of an earlier publication (book, brochure, specialized article in a chess journal) to the administration of the training course.

b. Proof of at least 5 years activity as a trainer.

c. A minimum rating of 2300 over a period of time.

d. Proof of teaching ability given by a demonstration lesson, presentation of or defending the trainer paper (in English or other FIDE language).

e. Proof of successful participation of the trainer course.

 

9. Costs: The costs for travel, accomodation and meals will be borne by the sending federation, club or participant. The Seminar Fee is USD 500 which includes the FIDE Fee and all refreshments and snacks throughout the course, free access to Internet, and handouts and examination.
