The President of the Libyan Olympic Committee and also President of the Mediterranean Chess Association, Eng. Mohammad Moammar Al Gathafi, visited the FIDE headquarters in Athens during his stay in Greece for the 2004 Olympic Games. READ MORE.

The President of the Libyan Olympic Committee and also President of the Mediterranean Chess Association, Eng. Mohammad Moammar Al Gathafi, visited the FIDE headquarters in Athens during his stay in Greece for the 2004 Olympic Games.

Eng. Mohammad Moammar Al Gathafi had a meeting with FIDE Deputy President Mr. Georgios Makropoulos, the President of the African Chess Union Mr. Nizar Elhaj and other FIDE officials concerning the succesful recent holding of the 2004 World Championship in Tripoli, Libya and the possibilities of improving the position of chess within the Olympic Movement. All sides (LOC, FIDE, ACU) agreed to continue working together and a timetable for certain actions with the support of the Libyan Olympic Committee was set to be brought forward.
