During the 46th World Chess Olympiad, on September 24, continental elections for FIDE Americas (Confederación de Ajedrez de las Américas) were held to elect its President and the members of the new Executive Board.
By a vote of 29 to 12, José Antonio Carrillo and his team received broad support from the national federations of the Americas.
The new Executive Board is composed as follows:
- José Antonio Carrillo, President
- Francisco Cruz Arce, Vice President
- Erick Hernández, Treasurer
- Enrique Celi, Secretary
- Sandy Razark, Member
- María Enriqueta Velásquez, Member
- Malcolm Powell, Member
This result affirms the continent’s confidence in a leadership team committed to unity, cooperation among federations, and the strengthening of chess in the Americas.
This marks the beginning of a new stage of joint work, dialogue, and development, aimed at further driving the growth of chess across the continent.
