The International Chess Federation (FIDE), together with the Spanish Chess Federation, invites all national federations to participate in the FIDE World Youth Chess Championships for the Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, and Under-17 age categories. The competitions will be held in Roquetas de Mar, Spain, from October 13 (arrival) to October 21 (departure), 2026.
Roquetas de Mar, located on the beautiful Costa de Almería in Andalusia, is a picturesque Mediterranean resort town known for its warm climate, golden beaches, and excellent hospitality infrastructure. It offers an ideal setting for a world-class chess event.
The championships are open to players registered by their national federations. FIDE Member Federations have the right to send 12 official players (one per category) and one accompanying official (captain/trainer), provided they hold a valid FIDE ID. Federations may also register any number of additional players, subject to availability and payment of the applicable fees.
The tournament will be played over 11 rounds using the Swiss system, with a time control of 45 minutes plus a 30-second increment per move. This shorter time control is being introduced for these age categories for the first time, making the event more dynamic and accessible for young players.

All registrations must be submitted exclusively through the respective national federation via the official registration form.
